Still Need a New Indoor Practice Site

We still need to find a new practice site should we be able to return to in-person fighting activity before spring or summer is fully upon us. Ideas and suggestions are welcome and needed! Contact Laird Brian at seneschal@bfs-kc.org.

Heraldic Consulting Next Week

Virtual heraldic consulting will take place next Wednesday, September 23rd, from 7-9 pm on Google Meet. To get feedback on or help with a new name or device, join Dorcas at meet.google.com/ypx-ozjg-dez.

New Wednesday Night Classes and Activities

September 30, 7 pm: Lady Rosie Dubroc of the Middle: How to Open Up a Can of Worms Without Making Too Much of a Mess: Starting an SCA Research Project.

Does research and documentation seem overwhelming? Are you interested in doing an A&S project but don't know where to start? This class will teach you how to find, evaluate, and document the sources you need to research and complete an A&S project in any category.

We’re still looking for classes. One of the advantages of the virtual format is that we can hold classes taught by teachers all across the Known World. To volunteer to teach, contact HL Ysabel at artsandsciences@bfs-kc.org.

Number of Archers Practicing on Sundays Continues to Grow

Sunday’s archery practice at Shawnee Mission Park was pleasant. The weather has been better, and the line is under shade, so it’s no surprise more people have picked up their bows.

You can get your archery permits at the Shawnee Mission Park office (the building you see as you enter the park from the Renner Road entrance). The cost is $5 for a one-day permit or $15 for an annual permit for Johnson County residents or $7/$20 for non-residents. Contact Mathurin for more information at archer-marshal@bfs-kc.org.

Archery practice for longbows and recurves (sorry, no crossbows allowed at the park) will be from 1 pm to 3 pm Sunday at the Shawnee Mission Park archery range as long as weather permits. Remember to bring your own water and wear a face mask.

Officers Needed

Your Barony needs you. We are short three positions:

·       Deputy for the Seneschal

·       Deputy for the Knight’s Marshal

·       Drop-dead deputy for the Knight’s Marshal

If these positions are not filled soon, our Barony will not be in compliance with Kingdom rules. If you are interested or would like more information about any of these positions please contact Brian at seneschal@bfs-kc.org or the Baron and Baroness at baronage@bfs-kc.org.

Baronial Meetings and Events:

·       Wednesday, 7 pm – BFS Virtual Meeting/Get-Together. Information on how to join with Zoom is listed above. Contact HE Alianora at baroness@bfs-kc.org for more information.

·       Sunday, 1 pm to 3 pm, Archery Practice at Shawnee Mission Park. Contact Mathurin at archer-marshal@bfs-kc.org or on Facebook (Rex Deaver) if you plan to attend.
