BFS News for December 25, 2017

posted Dec 25, 2017, 6:08 AM by Forgotten Sea

  • From Their Excellencies Forgotten Sea: "We hope everyone is having a wonderful Holiday and we wish you all a safe and Happy New Year!!"
  • Baronial A&S Championships: "Greetings, all!

My time as the Barony's Arts and Sciences champion is coming to a close - it has been a joy and privilege to serve as the Barony's Champion in this way.  To give you time to put together a truly spectacular entry, I am announcing the criteria now.

The competition will be held at Unslung Heroes, and will be judged by Their Excellencies and myself.

Your entry must be complete, have never been entered into any competition previously, and outside your normal set of skills in some way.  This means that if you have done calligraphy and illumination, consider entering heraldic display.  If you are a woodworker, consider entering a piece of jewellery.

If you have any questions, please contact Konstantia.

Best of luck to you - I cannot wait to see your entries!"
  • Kris Kinder Event Review & Brainstorming Session: "Greetings!  On the evening of January 10, 2018 we will be having a general discussion on what went well with Kris Kinder 2017, and what could be improved.  The meeting will be held after Curia, where BFS fighter practice is held. Curia is usually over between 7:30 and 8 PM. (ask kk_eventsteward@bfs-kc.org for address if needed)

Our attendance for 2017 was 645 adults and kids (another new record!), and we had 45 merchants – which was on or over the number for the past several years. Profits from the event have not been finalized as of this writing, but will be announced when known, and are expected to be as usual (just over $5000 last year).

After we discuss the Kris Kinder just past, if anyone has ideas for Kris Kinder in general – site, pricing, activities – we can talk about those as well.  If possible, please bring real cost information for your ideas.  If you need historical data in order to develop your ideas, please let Ylva ( kk_eventsteward@bfs-kc.org) know at least a week ahead and she will try to find it for you.

We are not likely to make any big decisions here, or come to any momentous conclusions.  Let’s just do some open-minded brain storming and see what we come up with."
